The Reversed R Sleaford Postmark Error
Judging by a postcard I've now seen it appears there may be some substance behind the rumour of a "reversed R" Sleaford postmark error. The card I've seen is a real photo postcard of Grantham Road in Sleaford which was posted locally. Here is a close up scan of the postmark:

The double ring c.d.s. postmark is dated 13th January 1918 or 1919 (1919 is the year I was originally told the error had occured) and the R in the town name does indeed appear reversed. Unfortunately close examination of the actual stamp shows it was apparently torn in half and matched up again when applied to the card so I remain keen to see (and acquire) any more examples of this error if they are out there.
