Rare eBay Stamp Auction: GB King George V Prussian Blue
It isn't even a month since I wrote an article about the George V Prussian Blue and mentioned that Stanley Gibbons were offering an example of this rare stamp a little while ago priced at £10,000. I believe that stamp has now been sold.
So I was extremely surprised to see a Prussian Blue for sale on eBay with a price tag of £8,500 but also inviting offers below this amount. At the time of publication it looks as if two offers have been made but not accepted.
The stamp is being offered with a 1958 British Philatelic Association Ltd expertisation certificate which can also be viewed on the eBay listing. The seller is a reputable business seller with a 100% feedback score exceeding 800.
eBay being used as the venue for selling this stamp is quite a coup in my opinion so, perhaps I've missed something, as I would have expected some additional publicity somewhere on the site given the rarity of the stamp and the interest this listing should be generating among dealers and collectors.
