Huge UK Stamp Theft Trial Underway
According to a report at the Torquay Herald Express newspaper website, Exeter Crown Court was told Steven Bennett and his two sons were bound, handcuffed and hooded when robbers entered their home in Southern Close, Torquay.
Quite amazingly the report also confirms that one of the accused thieves was allegedly offering the stolen stamps for sale from an address in Regents Street in London. The Philatelic Traders Society's "Red Call" system was used to tip off member dealers about the stamps stolen and it wasn't long before an arrest was made.
Quality British stamps have proved a good investment over the years and, unfortunately, will always prove a tempting target for thieves so it's good to see the system used by PTS members working so effectively in this instance.
