BPMA Offers School Teachers Free Learning Packs and Teaching Resources
The BPMA, via its website, offers a range of free learning packs and other resources for teaching staff to use in their classrooms. Most of the learning packs are available for free as PDF downloads ready for printing and a few are also available, also free of charge, in hard copy form.
While the BPMA has yet to acquire dedicated learning space and the necessary associated facilities, they are piloting on-site school visits to the Royal Mail Archive in London and the Museum Store in Essex. They're also working in partnership with local primary and secondary schools to develop a programme of curriculum-linked activities. Schools can contact the Learning Team via email or telephone to enquire and comprehensive contact details are available on the BPMA website.
Primary and secondary school students studying history are also being encouraged to visit the permanent exhibition by the BPMA at Blists Hill Victorian Town, Ironbridge, Shropshire. The Museum of the Post Office is located above the re-created Victorian Post Office at Blists Hill. The exhibition explores the crucial role the Post Office has played in Great Britain including accessibility to long-distance communications for the masses and providing essential services to the most remote communities in the UK.
